SOUNDS OF NATURE
AND
THE STORM

I felt much like a sponge,
Just soakin' in the Sun,
One summer afternoon,
Relaxin',
At the beach.
An' it seemed much too soon,
When the Sun started,
Fallin' out of reach.
So I decided to stick around,
A little longer.
'Till the Sun went down.
An' watch the tourists,
Stumble an' linger,
In clumps an' patches,
Across the sand,
On their way,
Outta town.

An' as I felt it gettin',
Quiet an' peaceful again,
I thought I could hear,
A sound like I've never heard.
At first I thought,
I must be goin' insane.
'Cause it was so strange,
So faint,
So much like a word.
An' then all of a sudden,
It hit me.

Sounds of Nature.
I could hear.
The Sea,
Was a symphony.
So pure an' free.
Sounds of Nature.
It seemed to be,
The wildest thing.
So gentle,
An' yet,
So strong.
Never tamed.
Like a siren's song.
It drew me in,
Along.

Sounds of Nature.
I could see 'em.
Waves tumblin' over the sand.
Cool breezes a-blowin'.
Raw,
Untouched power.
Untrapped by man.
Sounds of Nature.
So many gifts.
The spells of calm,
Endin' with,
Heavy Metal riffs.
Like the walls of water,
Slammin' into the rocks an' cliffs.
Sounds of Nature.
Echoin' everywhere.
The roar of water,
Crashin' endlessly.
The Seagulls soar by,
I hear their cries of pity.

Sounds of Nature.
I start to sink,
Fallin' deep,
Into the hold of sleep.
Fallin' through infinity.
I think.
Still very aware.
My senses I did keep.
Fallin' through the outer layers,
Of my subconsciousness,
Quick as a blink.
Sounds of Nature.
Whispered in my minds ear.
Sounds of Nature.
In the air,
Strange meanings to decipher.
Straining to hear,
Only made it harder,
Sounds of Nature.
Still a mystery.
Then I understood,
The less I believed,
What I perceived,
To be true.
The more I could,
Retrieve,
Receive,
The wisdom,
Of what the Sea knew.

Sounds of Nature.
It's endless history.
I strained,
Not to hear,
But to listen.
An' the less I strained,
The more it was clear,
What I was missin'.
The more I tried,
Not to see,
Only what was,
Right in front of me.
The more I could see,
The new dawn,
On the horizon,
Distantly.
Sounds of Nature.
Silently.

THE STORM

The silent Sea,
And the silent Sun.
Give birth,
To a silent form,
Above the Earth,
In shapes so strange.
It floats up high,
In the atmosphere.
Sailing on the winds of change.
Drifting always closer,
Ever nearer.

The wind up high,
Blows strong.
The wind fills the sky,
The wind flies along.
The wind never dies.
The wind is strong.
The wind cries.
Its ageless song.

Moving over the coastline.
Advancing inland.
Sometimes a good sign.
Sometimes a bad one.
Sometimes a good omen.
Sometimes a mad one.
Making someone glad.
While spoiling someone else's fun.

Building power.
Building strength.
From the forces of nature,
It takes a drink.
Growing bigger.
Moving faster.
The environment,
Its only master.
Getting thicker.
Growing denser.
Collecting moisture,
Into drops of water.
Releasing its power.
Unleashing weather.
Sometimes going on for days.
No way to stop it.
Endless ceiling of,
Shades of gray.
So dark.
So cold.
So wet.

Its strength it seems to gather,
Just so it can heap its fury,
Upon our world.
In the pages of history,
The tales of disasters,
Nature has unfurled.
Sometimes disrupting,
Sometimes full-blown erupting.
Giving life,
All its worth.
Sometimes to destruction,
Giving birth.

Snap of a crack,
Slicing the night air.
Spider web strands of light,
Flashing everywhere.
Crack of a thunderclap.
With all its might,
So loud an' clear.
The massive discharges of energy.
So strong.
So near.
All along,
Reaching into infinity,
Without any fear.

Drops of water,
Falling from the sky.
Drops of water,
Landing,
Die.
Drops of water,
Giving their life,
Unto the ground.
Drops of water,
Hear them splattering,
All around.
The Heavens cry,
A heavenly sound.
Teardrops from Heaven's eye.
Coming down.
From way up high.
Falling,
Soil bound.
When the Heavens cry.

The water giggling,
Chuckling down the hillside.
The creeks softly laughing,
Building momentum.
The river roaring by,
On its joyfully wild ride.
To the Sea,
Mother Sea.
Where was born,
The Storm.
