This is not about me, nor is it necessarily a true story.
|
LOADED LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN
Spent,
Like a dollar bill.
Lookin',
Like a cheap thrill.
Smokin',
Like a forest fire.
Tokin',
Like a little higher.
Screwed,
Like a piece of ass.
Brewed,
To be a big blast.
Lit,
Like a road flare.
So high,
Don't care.
Blown about,
Like without a mast.
Goin' out,
Like fadin' fast.
Slipped,
Like a spinal disk.
Gripped,
By a life of risk.
Flyin' high,
Headin' for a long fall.
Comin' through,
Like a wreckin' ball.
Spun,
Like a spinnin' top.
All of a sudden,
Comin' to a dead stop.
Runnin' into,
A brick wall.
Throwin' up,
Like a basketball.
Fallen down,
Like the night.
Crawlin' around,
What a sight.
Shattered,
Like a plane of glass.
Tattered,
Like a piece of trash.
Crashin',
Like a tidal wave.
Chained up,
Like a bought slave.
Bent,
Like an' elbow.
Dragged low,
By the undertow.
Closin',
Like a trap.
Nose stuck in,
The crap.
Sought,
Like a ton of gold.
Caught,
Like a bad cold.
Hangin',
Like a cheap suit.
An' under the heel,
To boot.
Breakin' loose,
Like a big belch.
Busted deuce,
Like Raquel Welch.
Hounded,
By a pack of lies.
Grounded,
By angry skies.
Set up,
Like a chess game.
Fed up,
With whose to blame.
Dealt,
Like a deck of cards.
Held,
By walls,
Bars,
An' prison guards.
Down under,
As in six feet.
Scrambled,
Like an egg,
Dead beat.
Taken,
Like a pill.
Taken away,
Your free will.
Twistin' you,
Like a french braid.
Just another victim,
Of a,
Drug raid.

I had a friend who lived life
always on the edge. I finally had to stop hanging around him. He was
going to get me killed or put behind bars...
Shortly thereafter he was
busted and spent 3 and a half years doing time. His parents had
mortgaged the house and paid $20,000 for a good attorney. If I had been
with him, I would had a public defender and surely would have done 5 or
more years. This is the catalyst that started me on my path out of the
darkness, toward the light... I knew the people I was hanging around
were trouble. I knew the life I was living was trouble. It was time for
me to grow up.
I saw him when he got out.
Still drinking, and driving. When he is in his right mind, he is the
best friend you can have. Add alcohol, and he becomes your biggest
liability. He could go far if he would stop drinking. I hope he gets
clean and sober before he gets incarcerated or dead.
