ISLAND OF HEARTS
My heart is like an island,
And I am shipwrecked upon
it's shore.
In the middle of the ocean,
Lost an' forgotten,
Forevermore.
The waves crash unceasingly,
Into graves of those gone
before me.
Littering the sand on the
beach,
All because this island of
hearts is out of reach.
I keep a fire burning,
Everyday,
Every night,
But who can say,
Someone will see it's light.
Maybe I should have first,
Started to build a raft.
But I'm afraid to die of
thirst,
With an eternity of water
around my craft.
An' it takes so much energy,
Just to keep the spirit
alive.
It takes so much out of me,
Just to survive.
On this,
Island of hearts.
